NOT THE WORLD NEWS

Started a new portrait. Won't say anymore about it until it's done.

Also clearing space to get down to seriously finishing my graphic novel, Double Entendre.

Also received the walking stick I ordered: it's blue with shiny silver dots - at least it doesn't look like an oldie's stick. Or shtick.

In response to your reply about "Beh...." in your previous post, I do observe that more and more English (as currently expressed) is becoming a foreign language. Not only are there numerous grammatical errors made by broadcasters, but choices of words by the ordinary "man/woman in the street" are becoming more than merely head-scratching, they are becoming (dare I say) ridiculously inexplicable - at least to a reactionary old f... like me. I always thought the point of language was to communicate something intelligible. Clearly, I am wrong.

Finally, please do not take this as a criticism of your writing. I have never experienced problems of communication with you (except Beh.....) :)

Tom, I agree about grammatical errors both spoken and written, very annoying. But language inevitably changes with time and that's not a bad thing. We don't speak as Shakespeare did or, for instance, use phrases popular in the 1940s. Accents also change - what used to be typical upper class English pronunciation (eg pre and post-war BBC broadcasters etc.) is very nearly dead now and I for one am glad of it. Some colloquial words or phrses are expressive and fun...you've used "bit of kit" above about my walking stick!

"beh" and "shtick" are like that!
