INAUGURATION

Whatever others had in mind when the name of God was repeatedly invoked at the inauguration ceremony yesterday, it seems to me that Donald Trump's deity is a two-headed gold idol consisting of himself and money.

Billy Graham's son Franklin declared that the sudden downpour of rain was a holy omen. I felt that the heavenly host, wherever and however you define it or them, were shedding anguished tears.

But what do I know?

As I have intimated elsewhere, I refused to watch the inauguration. Why? Because there are some situations and people - they are usually linked - that are totally beyond anything that I can understand or even partly tune in to. The Trump scene, with his train of characterless, psychophantic family members is one such situation. [Are they related to the Stepford families, I wonder?] And now the Trump is getting into a tizz as to who had the greater number of people at their inaugurations, him or Barack Obama. How childish can this man get?

Tom, I wholly sympathise with your aversion. The reason I watched Trump's inauguration from start to finish - as well as some of the election campaign debates between him and Hilary Clinton - is out of a kind of baffled curiosity, as if I were an alien observer from Mars. As if, by being an outsider witness to such weird, frightening rituals, I am somehow preventing them from spreading. Of course this is self-deluding and I'm not preventing anything at all.

I watched, with SWMBO who I'm thinking may have needed some anti-nausea pills, because she said it was still history. But a relative, who was raped many years ago by a man she says Trump reminds her of, kept the inauguration off and watched movies.

As an Australian - which doesn't even have the British concept of "Democratic Monarchy" (but will defend that concept until my dying day) - find the whole American 'Showbiz' concept entertaining and fascinating (apart from the Donald (Barnum) and Putin (Baily) may or not (depending on their respective sensible and rational military commanders) do have - as "elected" "Commander-in-Chief" of their military forces - the capability of DESTROYING every living entity on this planet ...
(Australian military is subject to Parliament).

Our "Prime Minister" comes from the "House of representatives", Not the "House of Lords" ... which, in Australia - has been translated into our Federal "Senate" --- in which each and every Australian can Stand for ELECTION BY THE PEOPLE.

Bruce, I think nausea is what a lot of people around the world are feeling when President T. appears and speaks. Let's keep fingers crossed for the next 4 years!

Davoh, I don't know how my cartoon of Trump relates to Australian government. All I'm doing on this blog is sharing my impressions, occasional ideas, or things I'm working on. I'm no expert on politics.

May I post your cartoon on my blog? It's really true. And so nicely done. Those tiny hands!

Hattie, yes of course, I'd be happy for you to share my cartoon far and wide - Thanks!
