Apparently I was a healthy,
bouncy baby but when my mother stopped nursing me, I
stopped eating. The hunger strike lasted for such a long
time that I couldn't walk and a variety of medical strategies
were tried to no avail. Then my worried parents consulted
an unconventional practitioner who prescribed a diet
of sardines and red wine. Bingo! That did it, I became
healthy and bouncy again and have more or less remained
that way, apart from the usual trials and tribulations
of life in which bounciness is taken away and would not
be appropriate in any case.
That's all for now.
I wish happy days, birthdays included, to all who stop
by here and invite you all to drink a toast or to put
butter and jam on it if you prefer.

Yes! I like it. :)
Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday, Natalie! You look great to me. I'll toast you tonight with a glass of red wine. But sardines? I don't think so. ☺
Tom, merci beaucoup. Or mercy bokoo :)
Bruce, I'm toasting you back - no sardines. Although on toast they might not be bad with the right sort of red?
It's still August 7 here. Sorry I am late. Here in Quebec they sing "C'est a ton tour de nous parler d'amour." Many returns, Natalie.
Tinned or fresh?
Vin du pays? Appellation controllée? Premier cru?
Our younger daughter was born in the USA and appeared bent on nutritional suicide. Would only eat what VR (an SRN back in the UK) considered to be junk food. Our doctor pointed out that a diet dominated by peanut-and-jelly sandwiches was in fact a good diet. Our daughter flourished and went on to give birth to a daughter of her own - ironically the pickiest child in the Northern Hemisphere.
In Paul Simon's words you've "hung one more year on the line". Was the blouse bought for the occasion? It's good and elegant. The wearer too. Mes félicitations.
Ellena you're not late, I was born on the 7th - but I'm not sure which side of midnight so I could claim the 8th as well. Si c'est mon tour de parler d'amour, d'accord! Je commence bientôt.

Roderick, food fetishisim certainly takes place on both sides of the debate, junk VS 'health food'.
The sardines and wine prescribed in my babyhood would surely have been of good quality - my parents were fussy about things like that. Maybe not Premier Cru for the infant however!
The white shirt has been in my wardrobe for a while - thanks for the approval.
A belated happy birthday, Natalie!
Thanks Leslee, I'm waving to you.
Happy Birthday,Natalie. You are completely cool. And 100% original.
Cool and original, what more could I ask for? Thanks Hattie!
Forever young! Happy happy birthday Natalie!
Thank you Adam, may forever be long-lasting.
Sorry to be so late with the birthday wishes, but accept them back-dated! I am enchanted with the vision of little Natalie supping on a biberon of red wine. Perhaps it was the art work on the sardine tins, some of which is very attractive, which appealed to you?
Back-dated birthdays suit me fine, thanks Lucy.
The biberon was more likely a spoonful of vin rouge - I don't think that doctor wanted to turn me into a mini alcoholic. Unfortunately I don't remember the sardine tins but I did acquire a taste for the contents.
