VACCINATED

I got a call to go and get the Covid vaccine this afternoon at a local Health Centre. So I'm going. But I hope there won't be any of that applause and tv cameras bullshit. I mean, come on! Applause for being still alive although chronologically past it? I will humbly accept applause, preferably with absurd amounts of cash attached, when it's for my work and/or my wonderfulness but I had nothing to do with getting old. Applaud whatever or whoever is in charge of destiny. It ain't me.

Very good news, please keep us informed as to how you get on. Isn't there a second shot after a certain number of days? (according to the Karleen news agency)

Yes there's a second shot in 3 weeks. There was no problem with the vaccination, just feeling quite tired tonight but that's ok. A lot of people were at the Centre, all having been notified in advance and given a time slot. Not all were oldies. You should both be getting shots at some time soon, right?

I couldn't agree more with you, Natalie. I cringe when I see the news items about vaccinating people, not that I watch much of the BBC's non-stop coverage of the Covid-19 soap opera. Have you noticed that the media seem to be unable to present news on the subject without showing numerous shots of people having needles stuck in their arms? Babies are best; they are less stoical and more vocal. The BBC love that, it would seem.

The wife of one of my nephews died just before Christmas. Her doctor suspected a stroke. It took eight hours for an ambulance to arrive. After staying in hospital for two weeks, and apparently doing very well, she suddenly died of Covid-19, contracted in hospital. I'll say no more about the NHS.

Tom, yes terrible things are happening, not only because of the Covid plague itself, but because of the incompetent, self-serving, short-sighted etc etc ways that this government and others have handled this crisis. But I wouldn't blame the NHS. There are failures, yes, inevitable when the health services are stretched to breaking point, but personally I have nothing but praise for the NHS and their doctors, nurses, and staff in general. As for the BBC and other media, well, that's another story, not a good one!
