general seem to be moving at the speed of darkness rather than light.
What to do except to keep on keeping on?

The speed of darkness! A phrase to conjure with. Of course we need both light and darkness, to complement one another, as in chiarioscuro. As in your glowing colours, leaping out of the gloom. Thanks for sharing the WIP, agog for more.
