I was going to write a post for this time of year, celebrated by all believers under the sun including believers in non-belief, and also a time of grief for all those enveloped in darkness, pain, and loss.
Instead I took photos of an orchid given to me more than a year ago by someone I love. This orchid has died and resurrected several times and grows more beautiful with each incarnation.
May your Sunday tomorrow fill you with joy, gratitude and renewed, reborn, invigorated love.

Gorgeous photos! These orchids are amazing, aren't they? I have several that have all been gifts from husband and friends over the years. Happy Easter weekend, dear Natalie!
Thanks Marja-Leena and the same good wishes to you. Yes, I've been lucky witn the two orchid plants I was given. One is flowerless at the moment but there are little shoots all over the bare branches so I think it will resurrect in due course. I give them a minimum of water, which Is what I read in instructions, and they're on a warm windowsill (indoors!so they must be happy.
What a beautiful plant! We have an orchid, too, but it is absent of flowers at the moment. We have hopes for the future.
That's a pretty flower. I like the shape of the petals.
Good luck with your own orchid, Bruce - remember not towater it too much!
Bryan, yes, they are spectacularly beautiful but also very simple shapes. I like them for that.
Thank you for the orchid and your seasonal wishes. For my part, this has been an exceptionally fine Easter, both spiritually and 'canineally.' It is also the 23rd. anniversary of what used to be called 'stepping out together'for Lucy and me.
Tom, I'm so glad to hear these fine news and wish you and Lucy....and the new arrival Elphy (Elfie?)....a joyous and endless 'stepping out' together.
Beautiful images, Natalie - is always a reminder for peoples "down under" that the Festival of Oestrus (easter) is a "spring" Festival that has very little relevance to those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, since this part of the planet is actually anticipating 'autumn' and 'winter'. Always remember that when the "majority" religious "faiths" were founded - there was no concept that the southern hemisphere of this astonishing planet actually existed.
.. but always - the flowers - remind us of the possibility of rebirth. Renewal.
Thank you Kooka/Davoh from the Southern Hemisphere of Oz. Your comments are welcome. I hope your seasons will all be interesting and beautiful in their own way, regardless of the weather. A post on 'beliefs' has been simmering in the casserole of my mind for several days but I've got deadline work to do so I'm keeping it simmering. It might emerge fully cooked at some point.
Not fair! Your lovely orchid photos make my orchid photos look all fuzzy.
Hattie, we're not in photographic competition!
All I did was to put a plain background behind the orchid. I also tweaked/sharpened the photo in iPhoto. I have a very ordinary camera and my photographic skills are also ordinary, even if I have a pretty good eye for composition. Even if I say so meself!
