Instead I took photos of an orchid given to me more than a year ago by someone I love. This orchid has died and resurrected several times and grows more beautiful with each incarnation.

Thanks Marja-Leena and the same good wishes to you. Yes, I've been lucky witn the two orchid plants I was given. One is flowerless at the moment but there are little shoots all over the bare branches so I think it will resurrect in due course. I give them a minimum of water, which Is what I read in instructions, and they're on a warm windowsill (indoors!so they must be happy.
What a beautiful plant! We have an orchid, too, but it is absent of flowers at the moment. We have hopes for the future.
That's a pretty flower. I like the shape of the petals.

Bryan, yes, they are spectacularly beautiful but also very simple shapes. I like them for that.
Thank you for the orchid and your seasonal wishes. For my part, this has been an exceptionally fine Easter, both spiritually and 'canineally.' It is also the 23rd. anniversary of what used to be called 'stepping out together'for Lucy and me.

Beautiful images, Natalie - is always a reminder for peoples "down under" that the Festival of Oestrus (easter) is a "spring" Festival that has very little relevance to those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, since this part of the planet is actually anticipating 'autumn' and 'winter'. Always remember that when the "majority" religious "faiths" were founded - there was no concept that the southern hemisphere of this astonishing planet actually existed.
.. but always - the flowers - remind us of the possibility of rebirth. Renewal.

All I did was to put a plain background behind the orchid. I also tweaked/sharpened the photo in iPhoto. I have a very ordinary camera and my photographic skills are also ordinary, even if I have a pretty good eye for composition. Even if I say so meself!
